The Flying Squad is a branch of the Specialist Crime Directorate, within London's Metropolitan Police Service. The Squad's purpose is to investigate commercial armed robberies, along with the prevention and investigation of other serious armed crime. Possibly one of the best known operations of the squad was their foiling of the Millennium Dome raid.

The Getaway[]

The Flying Squad appears in The Getaway and it is primarily based at Snow Hill Police Station. Members of the squad include:

  • Clive McCormack - The DCI and head of the Flying Squad, however he is secretly bent and works for Charlie Jolson, although he later betrays him by making a deal with Jamahl and the Yardies. As a result, Charlie has Mark Hammond take McCormack out at Snow Hill Police Station, in the mission: Filthy Business.
  • Frank Carter - A DC member of the Flying Squad who is obsessed with bringing an end to the Jolson's.
  • Joe Fielding - An old DC member of the Flying Squad who is shot by Jake Jolson at the beginning of the game. He survives his wounds and is treated in UCL Hospital. The hospital later comes under attack by the Bethnal Green Mob, led by Big Walter, under orders from McCormack to kill Joe. However, Carter saves Joe and kills all the attackers, in the mission: Do the World a Favour.
  • Ryan - A new rookie DC member of the Flying Squad instructed to case a Yardie Crackhouse. He is captured by the Yardies however and tortured, but later saved by Carter who then escorts him safely outside, in the missions: The Vigilante and Stalking McCormack.
  • Harris - A new rookie DC member of the Flying Squad instructed to case a Yardie Crackhouse. He is captured by the Yardies however and tortured, but later saved by Carter who then escorts him safely outside, in the missions: The Vigilante and Stalking McCormack.

The Flying Squad do not appear in The Getaway: Black Monday and are not seen or mentioned at the police station during the events of the game. It is also unknown who the new head is after the death of McCormack in 2002.
